This exhibition captures imagery of found arrangements of colourful and textured building materials from the building site which is now the Royal Women's Hospital. The resulting artwork presents an alternative and sympathetic view of the man-made environment by revealing some of its inconspicuous elegance. |
The visual deceptions of form and scale turn the images of an unpopulated construction site into remarkable, scaleless landscapes that dance and march in repetition and rhythm. Garnick's images are very beautiful, most of them work wonderfully as highly formal abstractions revealing his awareness of and allegiances to modern visual culture. |
